Can I change my current cell phone to another cell under the same service?

Question by Hellonasty86: Can I change my current cell phone to another cell under the same service?
Is it possible to change my current cell phone under my service which is at&t to another cell phone but still under the same service and same number?Btw I have a blackberry 8700c.

Answer by ttran4
Yes, All you need to do is move the SIM card from your current cell phone to the new cell phone. Your phone number and service provider are all on the SIM card.

Btw, the SIM card is usually under the battery and requires you to slide a little bracket over to remove it.

Good luck.

How much does a cell phone and cell phone service cost for a phone with a tracking device?

Question by Ms. Kennedy: How much does a cell phone and cell phone service cost for a phone with a tracking device?
I'm thinking about getting my daughter her first cell phone but she's seven and I'm afraid she'll lose it at school or somewhere. Do you know what the cheapest cell phone with a tracking device is?

Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Alex
Phones don't have tracking devices. My mother came across the same problem when purchasing a cell phone for my 10 year old brother. You can buy an extremely simplistic one, but they're rather lame to be honest. If you want one with real tracking abilities, it would have to run off of Android and have internet. That adds up and is expensive. Verizon has a tracking ability for some of their phones, but I know little about it.

"The Chaperone Service from Verizon Wireless allows parents to monitor their children’s locations in real time as well as be notified if their children leave predefined “zones” of where they’re expected to be. Verizon notifies the child’s phone by text message if their parents look up their location."

How to get cell phone service in a basement?

Question by KSJ: How to get cell phone service in a basement?
Hello! The place I work for is about to move to a new office in a basement. We went to check it out yesterday, and realized that no one had any cell phone reception. We all have Verizon, if that matters at all, and my boss is the only one with a smart phone of any kind. Does anyone know if there are ways to get a cell phone signal in a basement enough for at least 2 or 3 cell phones to rely on? Preferably something under $ 100. Specific brand names would be appreciated. Thank you very much!

What is a good Verizon cell phone to get in bad service areas?

Question by leslie b: What is a good Verizon cell phone to get in bad service areas?
The cell phone service in the area that I live in is spotty, but I've had phones that worked here previously. I was wondering if anyone knows any phones that work well in areas that have bad cell service.

I was a tech for a cell phone company for a period of time in my life. All Verizon Wireless digital phones operate on 2/10ths of a watt of power. Different people swear by different phones for this or that, but essentially they all operate on the same power. The old analog bag phones that could pick up almost anywhere were I believe 2 or 3 full watts of power if my memory serves me correctly (thus the reason they were in a bag, ie not a great idea to hold up to your head at that wattage level :P). The only thing I could say (in my opinion, which again, isn't any more or less important than those who swear by this phone or that phone, and EVERY CUSTOMER had their own opinion on why their phone "was the best" :P), but the only thing I could say is that phones with pull out antennas seem to get a little better reception than phones with internal antennas (the phones where you don't see an antenna at all). But even then I don't know how much difference that would really make. If you are in a bad service area, you're in a bad service area, there is no magic fix for that. Again, just my opinion. Your best bet is to check all of the maps of all of the service providers in your area to see who "claims" the best service. Most carriers rent space off of one anothers towers. The carrier who owns the tower usually has their 6 foot long panels at the top, ie.. their signal will go farther than those on the rungs below them on the tower. Pick the carrier who shows the best coverage for your area on their map (don't call customer service and ask about towers and panels, they will have no idea what you are talking about, and tech support in the call centers are no different than customer care regarding the physical towers). Anyway, hope that some of this rant was useful to your dilemma. Have a great day, and good luck..
