Do cell phones use cell phone satellites from outer space to get the current date and time? How does that work?

Of of them do, except I don't think outer space, you connect to a tower, and that tower connects to the satellites, however some cellphones just have you put in the time manually.

Yes, All you need to do is move the SIM card from your current cell phone to the new cell phone. Your phone number and service provider are all on the SIM card.

Btw, the SIM card is usually under the battery and requires you to slide a little bracket over to remove it.

A lot of people confuse the word "unlocked" when it comes to cell phones.

Unlocked refers to a "GSM" type of cell phone that uses a sim card. An example of a GSM provider would be AT&T, T-Mobile, Rogers, or Fido. These phones can generally be unlocked but you would either need hardware or pay a service to have the phone unlocked unless you were already a paying customer with the carrier than you can call the carrier, let them know you would be traveling outside the country and they can usually unlock the phone for you by having you enter an "unlock code".

If a phone is "unlocked" it can be used on any other GSM network that uses a sim card. You can just take your sim card out of your current phone and place it in the unlocked phone.

If you are a customer of a carrier like Verizon, Alltel, Sprint, US Cellular or Cellular South the phones can not be unlocked to use with other carriers.

Call customer service of your current cell phone provider. Each of the main Cellular providers has a special department called the porting department. BTW the process of transfering an existing number to a new account from another provider is called porting.

Here they are going to need:

The name of the account of the cell phone number you want
The password " " " " " " " " "
The account number "" " " " " " " "

They will tell you to wait a day and your set.

Also before you call, make sure your account is active. They can't get his old phone number if he already closed the account with the other company. They can only get the account if the old account is still active.

It will take a day maybe a few days for the porting to complete.
