I recently lost my verizon cell phone. What is the best way to replace it? Can you buy an unlocked cell phone at a cheaper price than their standard cellphone? If I have a cell phone that accepts sim cards, can I use it with their plans? Also, what is the best place to buy a cell phone that I may use with my current provider?

How close is it to your upgrade date?
I would look on Ebay. Just make sure you read the feedback on the person before you buy anything. I bought a phone off Ebay a while back and it worked just fine. I don't trust unlocked phones. My friend has one from Verizon unlocked for Cricket, and it cut away some of the messaging features. Do any of your friends have an old Verizon phone?

Tell them it's necessary. You can call them when you get places, so they know you're okay. You could use it in emergencies. And you can text friends instead of tying up the house phone.

There's no such thing. If there's a phone, someone can break it. Guaranteed. But there are phones that are tougher then normal.
Most of the old school Nextel Motorolas were rock solid and still can be used with today's Boost Mobile sims. The Casio G-zone series is known for being tough and waterproof. . If you want a cool looking tough phone, the Gzone series is nice. If you want a cheap tough phone, the Nextels rock, though a lot of them are plain ugly and clunky looking, they are dirt cheap used. No water proof ones like the Casios though.

Yesterday my Alltel cell phone got waterlogged. It's junk. Where can I buy cheap (but somewhat nice) used Alltel cell phones? I just need a working phone until I can afford a new one.

Would anyone be willing to sell their old and unused Alltel cell phones?

First, did you let it dry out COMPLETLEY? I would put it in the warmest location possible with the least humidity and leave it for 2 or 3 days. I have heard of many of phones drying out completely then working again. Then I would start checking Craig's List.

Verizon only carries about 6 basic cell phones in their retail stores and not many more online. How much longer will it be before only smart phones are available?
