How do you buy a cell phone without having to buy the plan?

Question by cookie_bear5: How do you buy a cell phone without having to buy the plan?
I want a new T-Mobile cell phone and usually buying it online gives you discount than going to the store, but when I want to buy a cell online, i always have to choose a plan? I just want the cell phone and I already have a SIM card, family plan, and unlimited texting.

Do I have to choose a plan to get the cell?

Is it possible to purchase a cell phone without purchasing a new plan?

Question by Michael: Is it possible to purchase a cell phone without purchasing a new plan?
I would just rather own a different cell phone that is not on the website of the carrier which I already have. Is it possible to purchase just the cell phone itself without buying a new plan? I have a Sony Ericsson Z500a with Suncom and I would like to have the Suncom service but with a different phone. Is it possible to remove the SIM card and place it in the new phone?

What is the price range of your cell phone companies family plan?

Question by Suzanne: What is the price range of your cell phone companies family plan?
My family hasn't been happy with our Sprint cell phone plan for awhile. We pay around $ 150 a month for a family plan of five cell phones. The cell phones have 750 minutes of talk time on the plan and two phones have an added texting plan. Are we getting ripped off or is this what other phone companies are charging also? If so, what do you suggest as a better cell phone company and plan?

Here is my dilemna. We

Well my cell phone company (straight talk) doesn't have a family plan, but maybe its something you can try. :) hm. Let's start with, mines $ 30 a month per person (that's still $ 150. & you get 1000 minutes, 1000 texts, and 30 mb of web access. That's more for your money! That's enough for email, facebook, and whatever. For unlimited its $ 45 and you get unlimited everything. Btw, sprint charges too much for what they're giving you. On straight talk, which you can get at walmart only, there are phones that run off the towers of three companies. The androids use sprint towers, some of the non-androids use at&t, and the rest use verizon. How you can tell is if the model number ends in a c (and is not an android) its verizon. If it ends in a g, its at&t. That would matter if you lives somewhere and could only get a certain service. I hope you find the right service for you. (:

Is there a way to bundle a cell phone plan and internet WITHOUT a home phone line?

Question by JB: Is there a way to bundle a cell phone plan and internet WITHOUT a home phone line?
We are thinking about getting rid of our home phone line and just using cell phones, but we'd like to keep our internet. Is there a bundle for that? Also, will some companies pay for you to switch to them (pay the fee to leave another one). For example, will AT&T pay the fee to break our contract with Verizon?

Answer by Steve W
Check out this company called Buzzirk Mobile at http://unlimitedmobilebuzzirk.com

They are coming with an unlimited everything plan and broadband internet speed on your cell phone. This way you can switch and have better unlimited internet, unlimited calls, texting and e-mails for very low price and no contract.

Just give them a shot.

What is the best and fairly cheap cell phone plan?

Question by Plain Jim: What is the best and fairly cheap cell phone plan?
I just want a plain old fashioned cell phone. I don't even want texting. Just talking to people on the phone. Something very simple without anything fancy.

What are some of the better plans for people just interested in calling people on a cell phone?

I do want a plan that's reliable though.

Go to eBay. Find a cell phone that is a GSM style phone (that requires a SIM card). Phones made for T-Mobile's network are good. AT&T phones are OK, but you need to make sure the phone is *unlocked* for use on either network. You can find a lot of low-cost, reliable devices there. Flip phones are perfect.

Go to T-Mobile and sign up for their no-contract plan. You bring the phone, they set up the account and give/send you a SIM card. You can get plans for just talk and text for a very reasonable price, on a rock-solid network, with no contract restrictions. You can drop the plan at any time without penalty.

How old do I have to be before I can get my own cell phone and cell phone plan?

Question by Melly: How old do I have to be before I can get my own cell phone and cell phone plan?
My father is totally anti-cell phone. He says they're not necessary and to a certain extent he's right but I really have had times where I needed a phone and didn't have one. No matter what I say or do he won't get me a phone.

I will be 16 next March and I will probably be getting a job by then, so would I be old enough to get my own cell phone plan and cell phone? How old do I need to be? Please help. Thanks.

You have to be 18 to sign a contract by yourself. Since most cell phone companies require contracts, you will have to wait until then.

Where can i buy a cheap cell phone without a plan?

Question by cali g: Where can i buy a cheap cell phone without a plan?
Where can i buy a cheap cell phone without purchase of a plan. I just want to buy a cheap At&t cell phone so i could just stick my sim card in and use it as normal. I've tried EBAY but when i type in the name of a phone or cell phones in general. Phone accessories pop up and not really the phone itself.

Answer by ShaneK
When searching for a phone on eBay use the phone's model number and you will not have this problem.
