Is not the whole world being suckered to upgrade their cell phone every year?

Question by Jamesr2d2: Is not the whole world being suckered to upgrade their cell phone every year?
Some people are getting super rich making and selling cell phones.
Why do we need to keep getting a more expensive phone each year and get a more expensive cell phone plan with more and more fees on top of the basic plan??? What would that 70, 80, 90 or $ 100.00 a month do for us if we put it in a retirement plan of invested it?

It's like computers. Every year they make changes so you have new programs and all you can use. Then, media and marketing come in and hype it so that "you" will buy the newest toys to play and "keep up with the Jones'" as always.

Yeah, Capitalism works, It keeps fools in office and others working into the poor house. :(

  1. I don't. I have T-Mobile Even More Plus, no contract. Got my unlocked G-2 phone on ebay for $ 100.00 a year ago, and am not switching phones until I drop it in another loaded toilet. The first time I didn't know how bad cleaning it would be. Now I know.

  2. Well besides being suckered into getting newer cell phones you're being suckered into buying new clothing, cars, televisions...as long as someone is making some product out there it'll be sold. Hope it helps and have a happy New Year.

  3. I buy tracfone burners. They are easier to deal with. $ 50 for a phone with triple minutes and $ 100 for a years service plus a bit over 1400 minutes. Unless you talk all the time this is enough for a cell phone.
$ 150+tax is all I pay for the cell bill each year. I hate phone's with plans. Those are for Chatty Cathys.
