Can you use Japanese cell phones with United States cell phone contracts?

Question by Julia Mccarthy: Can you use Japanese cell phones with United States cell phone contracts?
I've always admired Japanese cell phones and I was wondering if there were any United States cell phone companies that will allow you to have a contract with them using a Japanese cell phone. I'm talking about AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, Virgin Mobile, etc. I'm not set on any particular company and I'd love to learn more about any company that would offer this.

Thank you for any advice/information you can give!

You can use any phone company as long as they have a sim card. Once you order your phone find someone to unlock it or order it unlocked (both will give you a higher price to pay) and you can put in your sim and your phone will work like normal.

  1. You can buy unlocked Japanese phones and use them on AT&T / T-Mobile. It's better to avoid the CDMA phones as most of them has issues with compatibility in US. There are a lot of good Japanese phones and I've used quite few. If you need Japanese cell phone for using in US, you can mail me to arghyle@rocketmail.com
