How do I keep highspeed access, but drop home phone, and get two cell phones instead?

I currently have highspeed access and home phone service through AT&T/SBC. I got rid of both cell phones about a year ago. I've heard of people getting rid of their regular home phone, and getting cell phones instead, and keeping high speed access, which is what I want to do. How do I do this? I'm not getting a very straightforward answer from AT&T - they told me I'd still have to keep my home phone to keep internet access, but I could get the minimum phone package.

Get Cable internet, or any broadband that's not tied to your phone. But be prepared to pay more if it's the only service you are buying from a vendor. Most discount if you also buy their TV, phone, etc.
