Is it your cell phone or your service provider? It seems that my Samsung phone on an AT&T service gets dropped on 30% of all calls.

its the service provider i think, like the network failing from a hardware or software issue, too many calls at once, OR it could be you, because your in an area with little service, and move into areas with bad or no service.

Cell phones transmit a signal back and forth to a cell phone tower. These towers can cover only a certain area. As you travel, the signal is

a tall hill or mountain, etc.) the tower loses contact with the signal from
your cell phone, the call will be dropped. Each cell provider has their own set of towers (some are shared), so coverage between carriers can
vary in different areas.
you lose connection, basically your phone signal comes from a cell phone tower that connects to a satellite in space that transfers your calls, if you get too far away from a tower you lose connection, or if you go into a place that is outlined with something that does not let radio waves pass thru it...
