Do all unlocked cell phones work on any cell phone carrier?

Question by Special K: Do all unlocked cell phones work on any cell phone carrier?
I don't know much about cell phones but I see online cell phones to buy that are unlocked. Does every single unlocked cell work on any carrier in north america (or worldwide for that matter)?

    Yes, you can put and carrier sim card in the phone

    Not every one. If it is an unlocked GSM phone then it would work for every GSM carrier. CDMA same thing.

    No.

    There are several network standards and several frequency bands in use. Unlocked or not, a phone will only work on the network type(s) and frequency(ies) it was designed for.

    All GSM Unlocked Phones will work with any Country GSM Network Sim Card,It will not work with CDMA Network Sim card,You can unlock it using the Unlock code at
    http://www.mobile-unlocker.com/supported-phones/rs2wp7/ and Unlock it...If it locked Phone means.
